The Fall of 2022 challenged me and dramatically
changed my professional priorities.

Please come with me as I take my litigation to legislation.

For all of those who work in charity leadership to be protected, for charitable governance to have accountability and oversight, for donors to have confidence in providing monetary support or other services because all charities are required to provide transparent reports to the state, and for nonprofit board members to have mandated annual education.

I had no intention of leaving my job, ever.

What happened to me on December 9th, 2022 was wrong.  I say this humbly, my forced removal as the Executive Director of a non-profit focused on disabilities, has been a loss and disservice to the Disabilities Industry in Aiken, South Carolina, and the Southeast Region.

My work in the Equine Assisted Activities and Therapies Industry matched many of my talents with the elements of a successful nonprofit and therapeutic riding center.  I did not think it would be possible to find a more appropriate career and professional purpose.

I took satisfaction that our team was being recognized as a top charity for the quality and integrity of our services to persons with disabilities, a place to volunteer at because of the respect we had for our volunteers time and talents, and the ideal care provided to our herd of horses.

I have had time to reflect and reposition myself to make an impact.

Since December of 2022, I have worked alongside the law firm Burnette Shutt & McDaniel, who has been representing me in my complaints against my Former Employer, the Board Chair, Manager of Volunteer Services, and an Advisor.

As a “first timer” I had no idea what to expect in terms of time, pressure, emotions, or cost.  It is a high interest of mine to start a foundation that would allow for a portion of expenses associated with legal bills for those in helping professions to be covered.  A person’s right to justice and fair treatment in the workplace should not be dependent on their ability to have quality legal representation.
